Ricoh has announced a fourth interchangeable lens unit for its GXR interchangeable unit camera system.

September 24, 2010: Ricoh has announced a fourth interchangeable lens unit for its GXR interchangeable unit camera system.
The new GR Lens A12 28mm f/2.5 prime lens is the second to incorporate an APS-C sized CMOS sensor and covers a 28mm wide-angle. Effective resolution is approximately 12.3 megapixels and support is provided for JPEG and DNG.RAW file capture as well as 720p video recording. The bright f/2.5 maximum aperture offers faster focusing speeds, while an innovative Pre-AF function enables the camera to adjust focus to match the movement of a subject. A new ‘full press snap’ function locks focus automatically on subjects at a distance predetermined by the photographer, without the need for a half-press. Minimum focusing distance is 20 cm.
The new lens unit has a 6-group, 9-element configuration that includes two aspherical lenses, one special low-dispersion lens and multiple high-refraction-ratio lenses. A nine-bladed iris diaphragm closes to a rounded aperture for attractive bokeh plus precise aperture settings. It also includes an electronic level and supports ISO settings from 200 to 3200.

The GR Lens A12 28mm f/2.5 GXR camera unit will be available in Australia from mid-October 2010. Local pricing has still to be announced. For more information phone Ricoh’s Australian distributor, Tasco on 02 9938 3244 or visit www.ricohcameras.com.au.
