New Lastolite Lighting Products

October 17, 2006: Lastolite has added two new studio lighting products to its range that solve some common lighting problems for professional photographers.
Lastolite has released a new HiLite Background, which is ideal for high key portrait photography. By using simple white backgrounds, informal posing arrangements and unusual camera angles, photographers can create a contemporary look that pleases today’s customers. The HiLite illuminated background allows subjects to stand as close as 40cm to the background without casting a shadow. It can be effectively backlit with standard studio lighting and collapses for storage. Set-up takes only minutes and HiLite units are self-supporting, making them ideal for location work. Available in November. HiLite backgrounds come in two sizes: 1.5m x 2.15m and 1.8m x 2.15m.

The new collapsible Studio Cubelite is ideal for product photography, allowing photographers to control light from below and all other directions for shadow-free product pictures. The tensioned diffuser fabric keeps surface reflections to an absolute minimum and the front opening can be closed to mask reflections from the camera/operator as well. Graduated background effects can also be created if required. The entire kit takes minutes to assemble, making it ideal for location work or storing away when not in use. Studio Cubelite will be available from December in two sizes: 70cm x 70cm x 155cm and 100cm x 100cm x 185cm. Kits including two tungsten lights with stands will also be available.
