June 4, 2010: Lexar Media and SanDisk have today announced the availability of new high-capacity SD memory cards.
Lexar Media has begun shipping its 16GB and 32GB Professional 133x Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) memory cards to Australian retail outlets. The new cards offer the maximum Class 10 speed rating with minimum sustained write speeds of 133x (20MB per second), reducing image download times from the card to a host computer and improving the digital workflow.
These high-capacity cards are ideal for shooting high-resolution images and large-sized, high-definition video files with SDHC-compatible DSLR cameras. The RRP for the 16GB cards is $128.45, while the 32GB cards will seel for $250.20. SanDisk has announced the availability of its 64 gigabyte (GB) Ultra SDXC card, the company’s highest capacity SD card ever. With a read speed of up to 15MB/second and Class 4 speed rating, the new card is ideal for recording 1080p High-Definition video files and then transferring them quickly to a computer. SDXC cards are based on the new SD 3.0 specification, which makes it possible to manufacture cards with storage capacity up to 2 terabytes (TB).
