The Australian Centre for Photography in Sydney has released details of up-coming short and long courses that will be offered this month.
Digital Photography Basics is an intensive one-day workshop covering the basic camera functions used by creative photographers. It covers the skills required to use the aperture, shutter speed and ISO settings, best practice for shooting, how to achieve the desired exposure and how to apply these techniques. Workshops will be held between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm on Saturdays 12 November, 26 November and 17 December.
Camera Craft 1 is a five-week course that is designed to enable participants to get the most from their DSLR or Compact-System camera. Courses begin on Monday 14 November from 10 am to 1 pm, Tuesday 15 November from 6 to 9 pm and Saturday 19 November from 2 to 5pm.
Another five-week course is Introduction to Photoshop, which covers the key aspects of photo editing using Photoshop CC. Participants will be introduced to industry standard techniques: Layers, Selection Tools, Masks, Adjustment Layers and Filters. The course begins on Monday 14 November at 6 pm and each session runs until 9 pm. A five-week course covering all aspects of working with Adobe’s economical yet powerful Lightroom program will commence on Wednesday 16 November and run from 6 to 9 pm.
From Still to Moving Image is a new five-week course designed to introduce photographers to the creative possibilities of moving image on a DSLR. Experienced photographer and videographer Hugh Hamilton will cover shooting and editing video, working with audio and how to put it all together. The first session begins at 6 pm on Tuesday 15 November and each session runs until 9 pm.
Camera Craft 2 is another five-week course that covers the aesthetics and technical aspects of light and exposure. Participants will learn how light, colour, composition and approach will impact on the way your images are made and read by the viewer. Sessions begin on Tuesday 15 November and Saturday 19 November, each running from 10 am to 1 pm.
