February 23, 2005: Canon chose the PMA International trade show in Orlando, Florida, to announce a new snapshot printer and three all-on-one printer/copier/scanner devices, all based on inkjet technology.
The Selphy DS700 printer allows direct, on-the spot printing of snapshot-sized digital photos from any PictBridge enabled digital camera and also enables users to view photos taken with a digital camera on a TV screen. Featuring a print-head capable of ejecting 2 picolitre ink droplets and Canon’s FINE (Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering) print head technology, the DS700 can deliver a borderless snapshot-sized print with a resolution of up to 4800 x 1200 dpi from a PC in approximately 52 seconds. For users on the move, credit card sized photos or stickers can be printed wirelessly from a mobile phone via infrared (IrDA) transmission (JPEG only). The Selphy DS700 is expected to sell for $399 and is due for release in March.
New additions to Canon’s Pixma all-in-one printer/copier/scanner range include the affordable MP110 and MP130 All-in-One printers, which will retail for $179 and $199 respectively. The main differences between the two models are the memory card slot on the MP130, which supports direct photo printing from most popular memory card type and the ‘Tick-a-box’ Photo Index Sheets that simplify photo and media selection when printing straight from the memory card. Both models feature 2 picolitre FINE print-head technology and offer output resolutions up to 4800 x 1200 dpi. They can deliver print speeds of up to 18 ppm black and 13 ppm colour and copy speeds of up to16 ppm black and 10 ppm colour plus multiple copying of up to 99 copies per sheet. Scanning resolution is up to 1200 x 2400 dpi and borderless printing is supported for three popular output sizes.
The new Pixma MP760 All-in-One printer combines all-colour printer, scanner and copier functionalities into a single unit at an affordable price. Priced at $499, it combines high output quality with high speed and reliability and is ideal for home and office printing, scanning, and copying. With 2 picolitre FINE print-head technology and 4800 x 1200 dpi print resolution, the MP760 will also suit photo enthusiasts, thanks to its Film Direct feature, which allows users to print directly from negatives. Canon’s bundled Easy-PhotoPrint software lets users produce photo prints in just three easy steps.

The MP760’s dual paper path with Auto Sheet Feeder (ASF) and front cassette allows easy switching between plain and photo paper, and allows up to 300 sheets of paper to be loaded simultaneously. A built-in automatic duplex unit supports double-sided printing.
Other convenient printing options include printing directly onto printable surface CDs and DVDs and printing directly from compatible memory cards with Card Direct. A large 2.5-inch LCD is provided for easy viewing, editing and printing.
The new Pixma all-in-one printers will be released in March. For details, visit www.canon.com.au or phone 1800 021 167.
