Concurrent with the release of details of the Nikon D4, Nikon has also announced a complementary fast, medium-telephoto fixed focal length lens.
The new AF-S Nikkor 85mm f/1.8G is designed as a fast, medium-telephoto prime lens for Nikon’s FX format cameras, although it’s also usable with Nikon DX-format cameras, including the D5100 and D3100. Weighing only 350 grams, it includes a Silent Wave Motor (SWM) for quiet autofocusing and provides two focus modes, M/A (autofocus with manual override) and M (manual). No other information was available to us when this announcement was posted but we’ll update it as details become available.
