Development of this product was announced on 24 October, 2012 and the lens is now in production. Covering an angel of view equivalent to an 86mm lens in 35mm format, the new lens is ideal for portraiture. Equipped with a with manual focus ring, this lens is the first 1 Nikkor lens an M/A mode that provides manual focus override in AF mode. Another ‘first’ is the Silent Wave Motor (SWM) AF drive system, which ensures quiet autofocusing in movie mode. Nano Crystal Coatings minimise ghosting and flare.
The addition of this lens will bring the total number of 1 Nikkor lenses up to nine. The new lens will be offered in black or silver. The US SRP for the 1 Nikkor 32mm f/1.2 lens is quoted as $899.95. Nikon Australia does not disclose local pricing, instead referring readers to ‘local authorised resellers’.
