May 30, 2011: The Department of Regional Australia, Regional Development and Local Government has launched the myregion National Photographic Competition covering images portraying localities and their communities.
Entrants are invited to submit up to 15 ø¢â‚¬ËœImages of Australia’ taken in the past year in categories including: people, places, wildlife, landscapes and nature. Winning images will be selected by guest judges: ABC TV’s Art Nation host, Fenella Kernebone, Australian actor, Deborah Mailman and Photo Review editor, Don Norris, who will assess submissions for creativity and category suitability.
Winning images will be exhibited at Canberra’s National Film and Sound Archive in July 2011, in conjunction with the new myregion website launch. In addition, selected images will feature in Steve Parish Publishing’s product range, and a Photo Review editorial spread. Competition prizes include cameras, magazine subscriptions and photographic software, with one lucky student to join guest judge, Australian award-winning photographer Steve Parish OAM on a photo workshop.

Submissions close on 26 June, 2011. For more information, go to the competition website (myregion.strutta.com) or email contactus@myregion.gov.au. Visitors who log in to the website can discuss local issues, tell stories and share culture and also participate in voting for the image they like most.
