October 1, 2010: Lismore Regional Gallery will host an exhibition featuring the work of six of Australia’s leading Aboriginal male photographers between 9 October and 27 November.
Titled More than my Skin the display investigates what it’s like to be an Aboriginal male and how Aboriginal masculinity has been constructed in recent times through their individual viewpoints. This exhibition originally emerged from the observation that there was a group of mid-career male photographers who were working independently of each other but who followed a similar attitude to the role of the camera and the ø¢â‚¬Ëœtruth’ of the captured image.
The exhibition is free of charge and will be supported by screenings of number of important films relating to the main subject. For details, email artgallery@lismore.nsw.gov.au or phone (02) 6622 2209.
