Maxtor’s New Storage Solutions

November 23, 2007: Maxtor has released a new series of storage drives with features to suit both amateur and professional photographers as well as providing easy back-up facilities.
The new One Touch 4 Plus is a sophisticated desktop back-up solution that allows users to synchronise data between two or more computers on the same operating system and includes automated back up facilities. Users can also backup files with one touch of a button. Available in three capacities ““ 250GB (RRP $189), 500GB (RRP $269) and 750GB (RRP $449) ““ this model is supplied with Maxtor SafetyDrill software, which prepares, boots and recovers the contents of a computer’s hard drive in the case of a system failure of virus/spyware infection. Two levels of security are provided to protect data against unauthorized use of a lost or stolen drive.

Maxtor SafetyDrill is also provided in the portable One Touch 4 Mini drive, which measures 124.6 x 15 x 81.9 mm and weighs only 167 grams. Designed for people on the move, this drive comes with Maxtor DrivePass embedded firmware that restricts access to important files, even if the internal 2.5-inch ATA hard drive is removed and attached to another computer. The One Touch 4 Mini drive is available in 80GB (RRP $119), 120GB (RRP $149) and 160GB (RRP $199) capacities.

Maxtor’s One Touch 4 drives are a simple backup solution with one-touch or automatic backup capabilities. Ideal for home users, they can store digital images or video files as well as providing backup for computer data. Measuring 63.5 x 149.4 x 171.5 mm and weighing one kilogram, the 250GB drive has an RRP of $149, the 500GB drive sells for $229 and the 750GB is priced at $399.
