May 29, 2006: Cosmos Scientific Systems, the new owner of the Mamiya brand, has established a new entity, Mamiya Digital Imaging, to handle the Mamiya camera business. All trademarks, patents, plant facilities, and inventory of Mamiya cameras, lenses and accessories will be transferred to Mamiya Digital Imaging along with most of the skilled manufacturing employees, service technicians, R&D engineers and sales force. Local Mamiya distributor, Maxwell Optical Industries, has welcomed the change, which will not alter the existing business activities relating to Mamiya products, including marketing, sales and service. Mamiya is expected to display new products at Photokina in late September 2006.
