October 22, 2007: A retrospective exhibition of photographs by former Australian Prime Minister, and Founding Chairman of CARE Australia, the Rt Hon Malcom Fraser, will go on show in Melbourne on 19 November, with proceeds benefiting CARE Australia.

An avid photographer for more than 50 years, Mr Fraser was Founding Chairman of CARE Australia in 1987, President of CARE International from 1990-1995 and Vice President from 1995-1999. He retired from the board in 2001 but continues to support the work of the organisation wherever possible.

For this exhibition he has personally selected a collection of his favourite photos dating from the mid 1970’s through to the present. Documenting the world, the photos reflect Mr Fraser’s eye for the landscapes he’s travelled during his life and cover many continents. Visitors to the exhibition can see landscapes as diverse as the lush surrounds of Monet’s garden in France, the romance of Tuscany, wildlife parks in Africa and the mirrored reflections in Great Slave Lake, Canada. One of the pictures that will be on display is shown below.

All photographs in the exhibition were taken with Nikon cameras, the majority with D100, D80 and D2X models. The money raised from this exhibition will go to CARE Australia, and will be used in helping third world communities take charge of their lives and work towards a better future. Nikon Australia is supporting this event and all viewers attending have the chance to win a Nikon Coolpix S200.

The exhibition will open on Monday, 19 November at the Foyer, 101 Collins Street, Melbourne. A special opening event will be held at 6.30 pm on Tuesday, 20 November.
