IDEA in collaboration with the AIPP has gathered together the stars of the Australian professional photography constellation for three days in September for The Digital Playground event at Sydney’s Luna Park.

-

For the first time at a Digital Playground/Digital Show event the speaker program will attract an entrance fee, but at just $55 for a full day program featuring six speakers (‘Early Bird’ rates), the 300-seat Luna Park auditorium should be packed to the rafters.

Show organiser Robert Gatto (Kayell Australia) explained that selling tickets to The Digital Playground Theatre will help defray costs for the event as a whole.

Along with the star-studded speaker program (see below) and exhibits, the Australian Professional Photography Awards (APPAs) organised by the AIPP and with support from Canon, will also be held at the event.

Full three-day passes or single-day pass will be available. The six speakers lined up for each day will tackle a variety of topics, from wedding to underwater photography to fine art. The APPA judging and a compact exhibition area where the latest still and video imaging technologies will be demonstrated round off the program.

‘The diverse range of imaging equipment within reach of photographers today has never before been so extensive,’ said Robert Gatto, IDEA’s vice-president, Professional. ‘As with all tools, ownership of them does not by itself ensure professional-grade success, so it is a welcome initiative to see a broadening out of learning and networking opportunities for what is the world’s most powerful visual communications medium ““ photography.

‘We look forward to welcoming all comers in September to The Digital Playground and the APPAs. A top-line speaker program is now live on our website and registration is now open.’

The list of exhibitors has been finalised, according to IDEA, and will be released later this week.

The Digital Playground will be held from Friday, 12 September to Sunday, 14 September 2014 at Luna Park Sydney ““ 1 Olympic Drive, Milsons Point.

Early bird tickets are currently available until the end of June. A single-day pass is $55 and a full three-day pass is $165. After June, prices will increase to $99 for a single-day pass and $297 for a three-day pass.
