January 18, 2006: Lexar Media has launched its next generation of high-speed memory cards for professional photographers. Offered in CompactFlash and Secure Digital formats, the new Pro Series 133x CF cards will initially be available in 4GB, 2GB and 1GB capacities, while the SD cards will be available in 2GB and 1GB sizes. The 2GB SD card will be bundles with a compact USB 2.0 card reader and all cards will be supplied with Lexar’s photo recovery and card management software, Image Rescue 2.0.5. The speed rating of 133x is equivalent to 19.5 MB/second, which meets the requirements of most popular professional and enthusiast cameras from the leading camera manufacturers. The new cards will begin shipping worldwide in mid February with a 1GB card priced at $209, a 2GB card at $389 and a 4GB card at $859. They will gradually replace the existing Pro Series 80x card line-up, although some 80x cards are likely to be re-badged to emerge as part of Lexar’s recently-announced Platinum II range.
