Offered in two colour versions ““ Light Gold and Midnight Blue ““ the new C-Lux features a 1-inch (12.8 x 9.6 mm) MOS sensor with an effective resolution of 20 megapixels and a DC Vario-Elmar 8.8″“132 mm f/3.3″“6.4 ASPH. lens with coverage equivalent to 24 to 360 mm in 35 mm format. Unlike the similarly-designed Panasonic DC-TZ220, the Leica C-Lux saves raw files in the universal DNG format, rather than Panasonic’s proprietary format which can take time to be supported by popular file converters. It also has a leather cladding that spans the entire front panel.

Otherwise, the specifications are the same as the TZ220’s, with integrated 4K video recording, 49 AF points and continuous shooting at up to 10 frames/second. The selectable scene modes are also the same, as are the high-resolution EVF and 3-inch touchscreen monitor. The C-Lux also includes integrated Wi-Fi and low-power Bluetooth communications facilities.
An extensive range of accessories is available in matching and complimentary colours for both versions of the camera. These include, carrying straps and wrist straps for the camera in the colours taupe, blue and red. There are also premium quality camera cases, protectors and soft pouches that make the C-Lux an elegant companion for every occasion, including the two vintage models in finely polished brown leather: a cleverly designed wrap-around vintage pouch and a vintage case with a concealed snap fastener. Also available is an outdoor bag in hardwearing, water-repellent fabric. A range of elegant cases in various styles, colours and types of cowhide completes the portfolio. Thanks to a detachable, adjustable carrying strap, two of these models can be used not only as a shoulder bag, but also as a handbag or for stowing things away in a day bag.
Both versions of the Leica C-Lux will be on sale via Leica Store Sydney and authorised Leica Camera Australia dealers from mid-July 2018. The range of accessories will also be available when sales of the camera begin.
