April 23, 2008: LaCie has increased the capacity of its mobile Rugged Hard Disk drives to 500GB.
Designed by Neil Poulton, the pocket-sized Lacie Rugged features a scratch-resistant aluminum shell and a shock-resistant rubber sleeve plus internal anti-shock bumpers to protect data against accidental dropping and hard knocks. The new 500GB drive has a triple interface (USB 2.0, FireWire 800 and FireWire 400) and is compatible with both Windows and Macintosh PCs. Being bus-powered and plug & play, users can simply plug it into almost any computer anywhere.

Each drive is supplied with USB and FireWire cables plus a quick install guide, user manual and LaCie ‘1-Click’ Backup Software (Windows/Mac) plus LaCie SilverKeeper Backup Software (Mac only). The 500GB Rugged Hard Disk drive measures 90 x 27.5 x 142 mm and weighs only 298 grams. It comes with a three-year limited warranty and carries an RRP of $499. For details, visit www.lacie.com.
