August 14, 2007: LaCie has boosted the storage capacity of its Ethernet Big Disk external hard drive to two terabytes (2TB), which is ideal for storing digital photos and video.
Packaged in a compact, heat-dissipating aluminium case, the new 2TB Ethernet Big Disk measures only 44 x 173 x 272 mm and weighs 2.5 kilograms. Compatible with PC, Mac and Linux operating systems, it supports Gigabit Ethernet for file sharing and USB 2.0 for personal storage, making it ideal for backing up home or office data. Setting the system up is made easy with a user-friendly Wizard Install with Auto IP configuration and intuitive web-based administration interface. Files stored on the disk can be accessed via web browsers, neighbourhood networks or FTP.
The 2TB Ethernet Big Disk can also provide storage for a home entertainment network and is ideal for streaming digital media content. Playback is supported on any UPnPâ„¢ AV-compatible digital media adapter (DMA) without the need for a computer. It can also act as a multimedia server that can store 250,000 2.5MB image files or 3-minute songs, 1,000 MPEG-4 movies or 200,000 office presentations.
