June 7, 2005: Kodak has released a new credit card sized “digital photo album” that can store up to 75 favourite digital pictures and display them on a bright 2.5-inch high-resolution LCD screen.
The new Picture Viewer, which sells for $199, is designed for photographers who like to carry a selection of photos to view and share. It has a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, which provides up to three hours of picture viewing time when fully charged. The Picture Viewer also synchronises with computer-based picture collections using the included Kodak EasyShare software and will automatically download the latest images in the Favourites folder when it’s connected to a PC.
Users can extend the Picture Viewer’s storage capacity by inserting SD cards in the slot provided. However, images cannot be downloaded to the Picture Viewer from the card. The Picture Viewer can, however, be fitted into a series 3 or series 6 Kodak EasyShare printer dock for direct printing of images stored internally or on an SD or MMC card or use the supplied USB cable to link it to any PictBridge enabled printer. If the printer dock has A/V output, installing the Picture Viewer allows you to display a slideshow of stored files on the TV screen.
