April 26, 2006: Eastman Kodak has released details of its new EasyShare V610 digital camera, which it claims as the world’s smallest 10x optical zoom model and which features embedded Bluetooth wireless technology.
The 6.1-megapixel V610 uses Kodak Retina Dual Lens technology, which was first launched in the EasyShare V570 model and provides it with 35mm equivalent focal length ranges of 38-114mm and 130-380 mm. Both lenses are manufactured be Schneider-Kreuznach and offer excellent sharpness and clarity. The camera sports a 2.8-inch LCD, which doubles as a viewfinder and offers a wide viewing angle for image playback. Embedded Bluetooth wireless technology allows users to send pictures wirelessly to compatible devices such as computers, printers and mobile phones.
Up to eight frames can be recorded continuously in Burst mode at 1.6 frames/second. The V610 can also record VGA-quality movies in QuickTime format at 30 fps and comes with 32MB of internal memory plus an SD/MMC card slot. Users can zoom during video and use image stabilisation to steady moving shots. MPEG-4 compression allows users to economise on memory without sacrificing video quality.
Other features include 22 scene modes plus in-camera picture enhancing features, such as digital red-eye removal, cropping and panorama stitching. The V610 also displays a blurry picture alert to warn users when shots aren’t in focus. The camera comes with a special Share button that tags shots for printing or emailing plus a Favourites function that lets users identify special shots they want to keep close.
The V610 will be bundled with Kodak’s Easyshare Software, Version 6.0 of which will be released next month. This application helps users to catalogue and retrieve image files and includes the One Touch to Better Pictures feature, which automatically adjusts inkjet printer settings to make better prints when using Kodak Inkjet Photo Papers. It also provides basic editing and sharing facilities.
The EasyShare V610 will be released in Australia but the actual release date and pricing have not been disclosed. For more information, visit www.kodak.com.au.
