April 11, 2006: JVC will launch the fourth generation of its Everio hard disk camcorders with new features that deliver better performance and enhance hard disk drive video shooting and sharing.
Three new models will be released in May, featuring faster data transfer to PCs, longer, faster zoom lenses and larger LCD screens. True 16:9 widescreen recording is available on selected models. The new camcorders also allow users to burn full-sized DVDs directly from the camera via a compatible DVD burner (details of models are posted on the JVC website).
Top of the range is the GZ-MG77 (RRP $1499), which has a offers a 1/3.9-inch, 2.2-megapixel CCD and produces 1440 x 810 pixel images for full resolution 16:9 shooting. Image data is recorded on a 30GB hard disk drive and recording includes auto stabilisation. Just over seven hours of top-quality video can be recorded on the disk. The camera has a bright f1.2 lens with 10x optical zoom and a 2.7-inch widescreen LCD for real-time viewing of 16:9 aspect ratio video while shooting. Still images can be recorded at 1632 x 1224 pixel resolution and the camera sports a built-in auto flash. Both the GZ-MG37 (RRP $1299) and GZ-MG26 (RRP $1099) have 1/6-inch 800,000-pixel CCD imagers, which are partnered with a 32x optical zoom lens and built-in Auto Illumi light. The GZ-MG37 has a 30GB hard disk drive, while the GZ-MG26 has 20GB. Both models record stills at 640 x 480 resolution. New processing algorithms allow these models to offer improved low light performance and reduced noise levels.

All models also feature PictBridge direct printing, an SD card slot and USB mass storage compatibility. The JVC Data Battery displays remaining recording time even when the camera is off. There is a remote control, and Power-Linked Operation powers up the camcorder and engages the standby mode simply by opening the LCD. A new four-way controller mounted on the outside edge of the LCD makes it easy to operate menu settings, manual controls and playback control. Released concurrently with the new Everio camcorders will be the optional JVC DVD burner, the CU-VD10 Share Station (RRP $329) which allows users to record from the camera to a DVD.

At 12x real time, one hour of Ultra Fine mode video, about 4GB, now takes about five minutes to transfer with the GZ-MG37 and GZ-MG77. The GZ-MG26 takes about ten minutes, which is still 6x faster than real-time. For more information, phone 1300 728 225 or visit www.jvc-australia.com.
