JVC has released details of a new ‘hybrid’ camera, the ‘Everio GC-PX1’. which is scheduled for release in Japan at the end of this month.

 

February 3, 2011: JVC has released details of a new ‘hybrid’ camera, the ‘Everio GC-PX1’. which is scheduled for release in Japan at the end of this month.
Combining features of still and video cameras, the Everio GC-PX1 sports a 6.16 x 4.62 mm backlit CMOS sensor with an effective resolution of 10 megapixels plus a Konica-Minolta branded, 10x optical zoom lens (38.5-385mm in 35mm format). The lens has a maximum aperture range of f/2.8-f/4.5 plus optical image stabilisation.

The new camera also features a tilting 3-inch touch-screen monitor and supports FULL HD video recording at 1920 x 1080 pixels with a bit-rate of 36 Mbps and 60p recording mode using H.264 compression. A full range of shooting modes is provided, including P/A/S/M settings. The GC-PX1 also supports high-speed shooting at up to 300 frames/second (with reduced image sizes) plus sensitivity settings up to ISO 6400.
Image data is stored in the 32GB internal memory or on SD, SDHC or SDXC memory cards. Power is supplied by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, which is CIPA rated for approximately 320 shots/charge.
