‘Inland Heart:The Photography of Jeff Carter’, a documentary film commissioned by the State Library of NSW featuring the work of photographer, Jeff Carter, will be shown on the Artscape program on ABC1 at 10:00 p.m. this evening.

The film was produced by Catherine Hunter and covers 60 years of images collected by Carter during his travels across Australia. From the outset, Carter was drawn to document and celebrate the lives of working folk in the bush. From charcoal cutters and kangaroo shooters to dog trappers and drovers, his archive of wonderful images records a way of life that in many ways no longer exists. He wrote books and articles for the magazines of the time like People and Pix. Carter died on October 25, 2010, leaving a priceless legacy of more than 50,000 images of Australian life. An exhibition of Jeff Carter’s work from the State Library of NSW collection – Beach, Bush and Battlers – is travelling throughout NSW until the end of 2013.
