November 12, 2008: “Half Light; Portraits from Black Australia” is a new exhibition of photographs by Australian Indigenous artists engaging with the photographic medium and the portrait that opens at the Art Gallery of NSW on 21 November.
Showcasing a range of techniques from classical black and white portraiture to digital images, the exhibition offers an unprecedented insight into the black experience that transcends national borders and the reality of the everyday. A highlight of the exhibition is an artists’ discussion on Saturday, 22 November between 1.00 and 2.30 pm, featuring Richard Bell, Destiny Deacon, Dianne Jones and Vernon Ah Kee.
The exhibition runs until 22 February 2009 and entry is free of charge. For details, visit www.artgallery.nsw.gov.au.
