September 6, 2004: Nominations for the inaugural Images of Queensland Photographic Awards: multiculturalism in focus will close at 5 pm on Friday, 24 September 2004.
The awards, which have been established to celebrate Queensland’s diversity and the strength of its multicultural communities, are open to professional and non-professional photographers living in Queensland. A prize pool of $25,000 is up for grabs, with awards being offered in two categories: open and school student, plus an additional People’s Choice Award, which is decided by popular vote. Entries should capture multiculturalism in action. All entries must be taken in Queensland.
Entries can be submitted as hard copy or in electronic format. Photographic prints should be 30 x 40 cm in size and must be neither mounted nor framed. They should be clearly labelled with the entrant’s name, contact details and the title of the shot on the reverse side of the picture. Electronic entries should be submitted on a CD in JPEG or TIFF format with a resolution of 300 dpi and maximum output dimensions no larger than 30 x 45 cm. They must be labelled with the photographer’s name, using the format: surname_firstname.jpg. Shortlisted photographs will go on display at the Queensland Multicultural Festival at Roma Street Parkland on 10 October 2004, where the vote for the People’s Choice Award will take place.
