October 25, 2007: HP has released details of four new Photosmart printers, two printing on papers up to A4 size and two designed for snapshot printing.

The Photosmart D7460 printer has a six-colour Vivera ink set and offers fast printing speeds – up to 34 pages per minute (ppm) black and 33 ppm colour. It can also produce snapshot prints in approximately 10 seconds. Users can edit, save, print and share images via an easy-to-use 3.5-inch touch-screen. Built-in memory card slots are provided for direct printing from popular memory cards and the Photosmart D7460 also includes built-in wireless connectivity for direct printing from camera-phones and other portable devices.

HP Smart Web Printing
allows web pages to be printed without cut-off edges. HP Photosmart Essential and HP Photosmart Express software support easy sharing, saving, editing and printing of photos. Users can print photos without swapping paper with an automated photo tray that engages whenever photos print, and can share and print from network-enabled notebooks and PCs, using built-in wireless and Ethernet. Due for release on 1 November, the Photosmart D7460 has an RRP of $299.

A similar model, the Photosmart D5360 Printer (RRP $129) is available now. It comes with a black and a tri-colour cartridge but can use the same six-colour ink set as the Photosmart D7460. User controls are minimal and no editing facilities are provided, although card slots are provided for direct printing. However USB direct printing is not supported.

The HP Photosmart A826 Home Photo Centre is designed for snapshot printing and features a kiosk-like user interface with a large 7.0-inch colour touch-screen (with stylus included) and a novel, vertically-oriented design. Users can draw or write with “virtual ink” on the large display, or decorate their photos with borders, captions and creative graphics as they would at a photo kiosk. With the 100-sheet internal paper tray, users can conveniently print up to 100 photos at a time. A snapshot-size print can be produced in less than 40 seconds.
