December 10, 2009: The inaugural month-long Head On Photo Festival takes place in Sydney in May 2010.
The Festival centres on the flagship Head On Portrait Photography Prize, which is now in its seventh year and a significant event in the photography calendar. Showcasing some of the best portrait photography in Australia, it goes from strength to strength with each new set of winning entries.
Also featured are numerous events for all people interested in photography. These include retrospectives of the legendary ’70s photographer, the late Rennie Ellis, and of Oculi which will showcase some of Australia’s most eminent photojournalists. There will also be exhibitions in various galleries, cafes, restaurants and even streets during the month-long event.
Special ticketed events include master classes with world-class photographers as well as a series of multi-media slideshow screenings with images that are sure to fascinate and intrigue.
