September 25, 2008: Joby has introduced the new Gorillapod Focus, a bendable tripod engineered to support SLR cameras with larger telephoto lenses or digital video cameras.
The largest and strongest model in the Gorillapod range, the Gorillapod Focus features machined aluminum sockets with an anodised gunmetal finish and a stainless steel screw. Weighing only 500 grams, it can support up to 5 kilograms of equipment. It ships with a 3/8-inch adapter screw in place and can be used with or without a professional tripod head.
Designed for maximum flexibility, the Gorillapod Focus can be wrapped around environmental items like a railing or branch or used like a regular tripod on any flat surface. Rubberised ring and foot grips provide added security. The Gorillapod Focus makes a great travelling companion, folding up to fit in most gear bags. The published price is US$149.95. Joby products are distributed in Australia by Maxwell International Australia (www.maxwell.com.au/).
