Getty Images will partner with Fujitsu to produce an immense high-resolution image of the opening ceremony at the London Olympics on Friday, 27 July.

Images will be shot by Getty Images at the Opening Ceremony and then processed and stitched together into one gigantic image with a total resolution of 20 Gigapixels. Spectators attending the event will be able to view the image, zoom in, find and then tag themselves in the image. Images of such a high resolution usually take days to upload but thanks to leading-edge speed and performance of the Fujitsu CELSIUS R920 workstation, the image will be available to view on www.GettyImages.com.au overnight ““ up to 12 times faster than previously possible.
