The Camera & Imaging Products Association (CIPA) will open its annual Camera & Imaging Show on Thursday 12 February at the Pacifico Yokohama just outside Tokyo.

The annual camera and imaging exhibition runs for four days and includes exhibitions of new products and technologies and international photography plus talks and seminars on a wide range of imaging-related topics. This year’s theme is FOCUS! Inspiration lies beyond the frame.

Highlight events during the show include a Guest Speech by Franø§ois Hebel, Director of International Photography Festival, Les Rencontres d’Arles 2014, one of the earliest international photo festivals and still evolving today. He will talk about how to nurture

photo culture based on his own experiences. Martin Parr, a photographer and member (the current president) of Magnum Photos, will also present a talk on documentary photography.

Visitors to the show can also view their own photos on a 4K monitor and see demonstrations of 8K Super Hi-Vision, a cutting-edge technology currently being developed, led by NHK. The Japan-France exchange photo awards show will be presented, with editors in chief of Japan’s leading camera and photo magazines participating. CP+ is fast becoming Asia’s equivalent to Photokina as it is the venue for many equipment manufacturers to announce important new products.

Admission to the show is 1,500 Yen but visitors who register beforehand can entry free of charge. For full details of the event and a link to the pre-registration page, visit http://www.cpplus.jp/en/.
