July 5, 2007: A photography competition with the theme of Gardens and Flowers is being held as part of this year’s Festival of Flowers at the Hunter Valley Gardens. Photographers are invited to submit prints of their pictures in any of three age-related categories: Adult (18 years and over), Secondary School Students (13-17 years) and Children (12 years and under). The objective for entrants is to capture images of flowers and/or gardens and provide them in print form (up to 16 x 12 inches overall size). Prints must be mounted on stiff card (or alternative backing) with or without a mat. The quality of the mounting plays no role in the judging. Prints in frames will not be accepted. Each entrant may submit up to three images. Prints will be returned only if stamped and addressed returned packaging is included. Model releases are required for images that include recognisable people. A panel of Judges, including internationally acclaimed photographer Ken Duncan, will select the finalist prints and category winners. Winners will be announced on Thursday 2nd August at an awards luncheon held on site at Hunter Valley Gardens. Prizes include a 40 inch ‘Over The Edge‘ framed limited edition print from the Ken Duncan Gallery valued at $1460.00. Entries close on Friday 13 July, 2007. Entry forms can be downloaded from www.hvg.com.au.
