July is scheduled for the release of a premium Wide Conversion Lens (WCL-X100) accessory for Fujifilm’s X100 digital camera.
Made in Japan, the Fujifilm WCL-X100 attaches directly tothe X100, where its 0.8x magnificationfactor converts the X100 lens to cover a field of view equivalent to 28mm in 35mm format. Using four premium glass elementsin three groups to keep aberrations to a minimum, the optical construction ofthe Fujifilm WCL-X100 also employs the Fujinon Super EBC (Electron BeamCoating) to suppress flare and ghosting.
The camera must be updated to Firmware version 1.3.0 orlater to allow the Wide Conversion Lens option to be selected via theFunction (Fn) or RAW buttons. The camera will automatically apply imageprocessing to shots captured using the WCL-X100 to reduce image distortion, ensuring balanced illumination across the frame and reduced chromaticaberration.
The Fujifilm WCL-X100 uses the same materials, textures andcolours as the Fujifilm X100, plus the optional LH-X100 lens hood and PRF-49Sprotective filter can be used on the conversion lens. Additionally, the clip-onlens cap for the WCL-X100 can be attached with both the lens hood and filter inplace.
The Fujifilm WCL-X100 has a recommended retail price of$399.00 including GST. It is expected to be available in July 2012. For moreinformation, visit www.fujifilm.com.au.
