February 13, 2007: Fujifilm’s latest slimline digicam, the FinePix Z5fd, has an all-metal case and will be available in three colours: raspberry red, mocha brown and silver.
Featuring a 6.3-megapixel sixth generation Super CCD HR imager and non-extending Fujinon 3x optical zoom lens, the FinePix Z5fd has many features to attract style-conscious snapshooters. Among them is hardware-based Face Detection technology, a selectable mode that can capture of up to 10 faces in a frame and optimises focus and exposure for people photos. There’s also a new “blog” mode which copies and automatically re-sizes images for fast and easy posting to a blog, web page or email attachment. Fujifilm’s Picture Stabilisation technology uses ISO boosting to minimise the incidence of blur caused by subject motion or camera shake and a special Dual Shot Mode lets users record two shots in quick succession – one with flash and one without – and then display them side-by-side for an instant comparison.
Other features include i-Flash (Intelligent Flash System) which controls the flash power output on the basis of light reflected from the subject. The FinePix Z5fd also uses Fujifilm’s Real Photo Processor II technology to reduce noise and provide enhanced colour reproduction. Fourteen special scene modes are provided, including Fireworks, Beach, Snow, Flower Close-up, Party and Text. The camera comes with 26MB of internal memory plus an expansion slot for xD-Picture Cards.
TV quality (VGA) movies can be recorded at 30 frames/second with sound and the camera is equipped with IR Simple infrared communication facilities. The 2.5-inch LCD screen on the rear panel is protected by a reinforced acrylic shield and the camera is supplied with a Lithium-ion rechargeable battery. The FinePix Z5fd is available now for an RRP of $449. For more information, visit www.fujifilm.com.au.
