May 21, 2007: Fujifilm Australia has released details of its new FinePix S5700, a robust, lightweight digicam with a 10x optical zoom lens and 7.1-megapixel resolution.
Targeted at families who want a longer zoom range and more advanced feature set, the FinePix S5700 can also be operated easily with one hand, thanks to its ergonomic design, convenient menu system, button layout, rocker zoom and mode dial. The mode dial carries settings for auto, P, A, S and M shooting modes plus two Scene Position settings, a Natural Light mode that quells the flash and a Natural Light & With Flash dual shot mode. Fourteen pre-programmed scene modes can be activated with a one-touch setting, including: Natural Light, Natural Light & Flash, Portrait, Landscape, Sport, Night, Fireworks, Sunset, Snow, Beach, Museum, Party, Flower and Text.
Other features include ISO 1600 sensitivity at full resolution and an Intelligent Flash system, i-Flash, which controls the power output and sensitivity to deliver natural foreground illumination with balanced background exposure. The memory card slot accepts xD and SD cards, providing an increased storage choice. VGA movie clips can be recorded with sound at 30 frames per second and Electronic Image Stabilisation is available to minimise blur caused by camera shake. Zooming and AF functions are also active during movie recording.
Other features include a 2.5-inch LCD screen with 230,000 pixels; electronic viewfinder; rapid start-up time of 1.1 seconds; shutter lag of 0.01 seconds and 27MB of internal memory. Accessories include 4 x AA-size alkaline batteries; shoulder strap; lens cap; lens cap cord; USB cable; A/V cable; CD-Rom with FinePix Viewer and Owners Manual.
