October 18, 2010: Fujifilm has released its second 3D camera, the FinePix REAL 3D W3, which adds the ability to record 720p HD video clips and HD photos captured at 1920 x 1080 pixels (or higher) that can be viewed on most 3D HD TV systems.
Smaller and lighter than its predecessor, the FinePix REAL 3D W3 has a larger, 3.5-inch widescreen monitor with a resolution of 1,150,000 dots for higher-quality viewing. A new lenticular system uses rows of convex lenses that create a binocular parallax effect to produce a realistic 3D image with less cross-talk (image overlap) and flicker. Images on the FinePix REAL 3D W3 can be viewed in High Luminosity Mode which displays images 1.5 times brighter and reproduces colour 1.8 times deeper (compared to the previous model) allowing for clear, distinct and vivid images.

Like its ‘sister’ model, the W1, the W3 combines two Fujinon 3x optical zoom lenses (35-105mm equivalent) and twin 10 megapixel CCD sensors in an integrated camera body. With a durable stainless steel chassis and black matte finish, the W3 is only 21 mm wide at its thinnest point. A horizontal lens cover doubles as the on/off switch.
Image data from the dual camera system is processed by a new Real Photo (RP) Processor 3D HD, which combines the left and right images to create 3D still pictures and video movies. The new camera supports full auto shooting and includes the Advanced 2D and 3D modes provided by the W1. The former include Tele/Wide Simultaneous Shooting, Two-Colour Simultaneous Shooting and Dual Sensitivity Simultaneous Shooting. Advanced 3D modes include Individual Shutter 3D Shooting and Interval 3D Shooting.
The FinePix REAL 3D W3 camera is available now for an RRP of $599. For more information, visit www.fujifilm.com.au.
