October 16, 2006: Three new Fujifilm digicams will go on sale this month featuring new sensor technology and offering features to appeal to many users.
Top of the line is the 6.3-megapixel SLR-style FinePix S6500fd (RRP $629) which boasts a fixed Fujinon lens with an equivalent focal length range of 28-300mm (10.7x zoom) and has a twist barrel zoom control. Features of this model include a new ultra-fast proprietary Face Detection Technology, which can identify up to 10 faces in a frame and adjust camera settings to produce sharp, natural-looking portrait pictures. Within 0.05 seconds it can set the camera to focus on the people and ensure they are properly exposed.
The FinePix S6500fd also has a 6th Generation Super CCD sensor that can support sensitivity settings up to ISO 3200 plus an Intelligent Flash (iFlash) system that automatically determines flash power output and exposure. A special ‘Natural Light & Flash’ Dual Shot mode takes two shots in quick succession – one with flash and one without before displaying them side-by-side for on the spot comparison. Selecting the High Speed Shooting Mode engages rapid focusing and reduces shutter lag to just 0.035 seconds.
Other features include a 2.5-inch LCD screen with 235,000 pixel resolution; single, continuous and manual focus modes; JPEG and raw file format support; 14 scene modes; P, A,S and M exposure modes and PictBridge compatibility. The FinePix S6500fd can record VGA video clips at 30 fps and the zoom can be used while recording. Ten megabytes of internal storage is provided, along with an xD-Picture Card expansion slot.
