Covering angles of view equivalent to 15-36mm in 35mm format, the new lens is compatible with all Fujifilm X Mount compact system cameras and is an excellent choice for landscape and architectural photography, particularly interior shots. Its maximum aperture of f/4 is available throughout the zoom range and Optical Image Stabilisation facilitates handheld shooting ““ even in low light conditions. It wil lfocus to within 24 cm of a subject.

The new lens features finely tuned metal aperture and focus rings and has a specially designed optical system, with four high precision aspherical lenses and three extra low dispersion glass lenses which optimise the performance of the X-Trans sensor. A seven-blade iris diaphragm produces smooth and round bokeh effects.

Ghosting is minimised by Fujifilm’s proprietary HT-EBC (High Transmittance Electron Beam Coating) multilayer coating, which is applied to all sides of Fujinon lenses. The XF10-24mm also incorporates an additional coating on the reverse side of the front element to further reduce ghosting that typically occurs when using deep concave lenses. Image quality is improved when the XF10-24mmF4 R OIS lens is attached to a body that supports the Lens Modulation Optimiser.

High speed AF on the XF10-24mmF4 R OIS lens is achieved by its inner focusing system, which drives smaller lenses in the middle or rear lens groups without moving the larger lenses in the front lens groups. Use of light weight elements and a stepping motor makes the XF10-24mmF4 R OIS lens very quiet to use. The new lens weighs 410 grams and accepts 72 mm filters.

The new Fujinon XF10-24mm f/4 R OIS lens is the 11th lens to be announced for Fujifilm’s X-series, which now covers focal lengths between 15mm and 350mm (equivalent to 35mm full frame.) The local recommended retail price is yet to be advised. US websites indicate an RRP of US$999.95. Details can be found at
