Fujifilm has released a development roadmap for interchangeable GF lenses now available and in development for its medium format GFX Series cameras.

The original GFX 50S camera was launched with three lenses: the GF63mm f/2.8 R WR, GF32-64mm f/4 R LM WR and GF120mm f/4 R LM OIS WR Macro. Subsequent additions are the GF23mm f/4 R LM WR, the GF45mm f/2.8 R WR, GF110mm f/2 R WR and GF 250mm f/4 R LM OIS WR plus the GF1.4X TC WR teleconverter. Under the development roadmap, Fujifilm will be adding three new lenses: the GF100-200mm f/5.6 R LM OIS WR, which comes in response to customers’ needs for a new telephoto zoom lens, as well as the GF45-100mm f/4 R LM OIS WR medium-range zoom lens and the GF50mm f/3.5 R LM WR lightweight compact standard prime lens. These three new lenses mean a line-up of 11 lenses will be available to photographers, covering a diverse range of shooting genres.

Due to the large image sensor (43.8mm x 32.9mm), which is approximately 1.7 times larger than a 35mm frame and has a crop factor of 0.79 (which applies to both focal length and lens aperture setting), the actual focal distances covered by GF mount lenses on GFX series cameras cover wider angles of view than the  equivalent focal length figures in 35mm format. Details of the three new lenses added to the development roadmap are as follows:

The GF100-200mm f/5.6 R LM OIS WR telephoto lens covers a focal length range equivalent to 79-158mm in 35mm format, making it ideal for shooting scenery. Distance coverage can be extended by fitting the GF1.4X TC WR teleconverter, which extends the focal distance of the main lens by approximately 1.4 times to cover a 35mm equivalent range of 111-221mm.

The GF45-100mm f/4 R LM OIS WR medium-range zoom lens encompasses angles of view equivalent to 36-79mm in 35mm format, a suitable range for landscape and portrait photography.  Together with the GF100-200mm f/5.6 R LM OIS WR lens, it will enable photographers to span a zoom range equivalent to 25-158mm in 35mm format.

The GF50mm f/3.5 R LM WR prime lens (which is equivalent to 40mm in 35mm format) is a  compact lightweight lens that makes an ideal general-purpose partner for the up-coming GFX 50R camera. All G-mount lenses come with weatherproof sealing to complement the weather-sealed cameras.
