Fujifilm”s new FinePix S602 Zoom is now available in Australia. Announced at the PMA International Trade Show in Orlando in February, the new model is an upgrade to the popular FinePix 6900 Zoom and features a compact and lightweight SLR-style body.

Announced at the PMA International Trade Show in Orlando in February, the new model is an upgrade to the popular FinePix 6900 Zoom and features a compact and lightweight SLR-style body. It also sports a third generation Super CCD sensor with 3.1 million effective pixels that produces interpolated high-resolution files with 6.03 million recorded pixels. Other attractive features include a 6x optical zoom lens with an equivalent focal length range to 35 to 210mm on a 35mm camera plus up to 4.4x digital zoom (in 640 x 480 pixel mode). The FinePix S602 Zoom is fitted with a dual media slot that accepts both SmartMedia and CompactFlash (Type II) and is also compatible with IBM Microdrives. Improved functions include an extension of sensitivity to ISO 800 and 1600 (for 1280 x 960 pixel mode only) for better low light and action photography and a new Super-Macro function that focuses to within 1 cm of the subject. The autofocusing system has also been improved and now offers 49 selectable AF points. Three high speed continuous shooting modes are now available for action photography, ranging from a top speed of five frames at 5 frames/sec to 1.8 frames/sec for up to 40 frames (in 1280 x 960 pixel mode). A convenient voice memo function allows users to attach voice annotations of up to 30 seconds to captured images. The FinePix S602 Zoom has a recommended retail price of $1799.
