May 11, 2007: Fujifilm Australia had introduced a new high-speed colour reversal film to the local market and will re-introduce the popular Fujichrome Velvia 50 next month.
The new Fujichrome Provia 400X features new-generation couplers that provide high colour purity, stability and colour formation efficiency, resulting in excellent performance, image stability and resistance to fading. It also includes new Epitaxial Sigma Crystal Technology (ESC) which produces a granularity in an ISO 400 film that claims to rival some ISO 100 colour reversal films.
Fujichrome Velvia 50, which was discontinued in 2005 when key raw materials used in the production of the emulsion became unavailable, is scheduled to re-enter the local market from June 2007. The characteristics of this new emulsion will mirror the original Fujichrome Velvia 50 with its vivid colour reproduction and ultra high colour saturation. Other features include its fine RMS granularity of 9 and excellent shadow depth, which enables uniform neutral grey to be produced from the highest highlights to the deepest shadows.
