Nikon has released Firmware Version 2.20 for its Z 6 and Z 7 cameras to provide improved functionality and also launched a paid service to enable RAW video output.

Firmware Version 2.20 enables both cameras to use CFexpress cards, which support an even faster data transfer than XQD cards for a smoother and more efficient photographic workflow without modifying the camera’s memory card slot. The new firmware also enables 12-bit 4K UHD or Full-HD RAW video can be recorded [5] to an external recorder [6] connected to a Z 7 or Z 6 camera via a HDMI connector. Firmware Ver. 2.20 is now available at the Nikon Download Centre.

Users of the Z 7 or Z 6 who have downloaded and installed Firmware Ver. 2.20 or later can take or send their camera to Nikon Head Office in Sydney to have the RAW Video Output function activated for a service fee of $319.00 per camera, including GST and postage within Australia. My Nikon Life members can book the service activation online by clicking here or contacting Nikon Head Office.
