Nikon just released firmware updates for its Z-mount 50mm f/1.2, 105mm f/2.8 and 24-70mm f/2.8 lenses.

The new firmware applies the same two fixes to all three lenses, providing the following improvements:
1. Added support for linear focus ring rotation during manual focus: when an option other than [Non-linear] is selected for [Focus ring rotation range] in the camera [CUSTOM SETTINGS MENU], rotating the ring the selected amount takes focus from the minimum distance to infinity regardless of rotation speed.

2.  Added support for [Switch focus/control ring roles] in the camera [CUSTOM SETTINGS MENU].
The first improvement will make focus pulling easier and more accurate by directly linking ring rotation to focus distance, regardless of how fast the ring is turned. Both improvements are available for Nikon’s Z9 camera running firmware version 2.00 or later as well as for the Z6 II and Z7 II cameras with firmware 1.40 or later.
