Nikon has announced the availability today of new firmware for its Z 7, Z 6, Z 5, and Z 50 mirrorless cameras.

Firmware Ver. 3.40 for the Z 7 and Z 6, firmware Ver 1.20 for the Z 5, and firmware Ver. 2.20 for the Z 50 will offer increased AF performance and usability when shooting in low light situations, with improved detection performance in scenes where it was difficult to detect faces and eyes when using an external Speedlight flash, as well as improved subject visibility during live view shooting through the viewfinder or monitor. Firmware Ver. 3.40 for the Z 7 and Z 6 will include improvements to the tracking frames used for face and eye detection, as well as subject-tracking AF. Additionally, eye detection will be effective for smaller faces, enabling smoother and more stable shooting.

The new firmware for each camera is available at the Nikon Download Center.
