Canon has issued new firmware for its EOS R and Ra cameras plus the RF 24-70mm, 24-105mm and 70-200mm lenses.

Firmware Version 1.6.0 for the EOS R adds support for the RF85mm f/1.2L USM DS lens and corrects three identified bugs:
1. Corrects a phenomenon in which the function or setting value assigned to the control ring may change when the control ring is operated in Eco mode.

  1. Corrects a phenomenon in which the camera may stop operating properly during “auto transfer” when using Camera Connect with a Wi-Fi connection.
  2. Corrects a phenomenon in which high-speed synchronisation with use of an external flash may not operate properly depending on the camera’s setting for C.Fn2 “Set shutter speed range”.

Most of the same changes are incorporated in Firmware Version 1.6.0 for the EOS Ra, the astronomical photography version of the EOS R. Click here for the download.

The three lens updates apply to the RF 24-70 f/2.8L IS USM, RF 24-105 f/4L IS USM and RF 70-200 f/2.8L IS USM lenses. In each case the update is designed to reduce colour unevenness when capturing images using long exposure (Bulb) mode with the EOS Ra. Click here for links to the new firmware for each lens.
