Nikon has released firmware updates for several of its Coolpix and DSLR cameras.

November 12, 2010: Nikon has released firmware updates for several of its Coolpix and DSLR cameras.
Firmware Ver. 1.1 for the Coolpix P100 applies the following modifications:
– Distortion control and Auto bracketing can now be enabled at the same time.
– An issue that caused light sources to appear green with continuous shooting in Night landscape scene mode has been resolved.
– When the camera was turned on by pressing the playback button with the mode dial set to “U” (user setting mode), and the MENU button then pressed, an error message was displayed. This issue has been resolved.
– An issue that prevented the zoom from operating when the zoom control was pressed in the “T” direction and then immediately pressed in the “W” direction has been resolved.
– An issue that prevented the shutter speed display from blinking when the shutter speed specified with the mode dial set to “S” would result in under-exposure has been resolved.
This update can be accessed through the Nikon Australia website (www.nikon.com.au) by clicking on Service & Support and selecting Software Downloads.
Firmware Ver. 1.1 for the Coolpix S8100 fixes a single bug. When Sequence display options was selected from the playback menu and Individual pictures then selected, pictures previously shot continuously were displayed one at a time, but only the key picture for a series shot after the setting was displayed. This issue has been resolved. The update is available from http://support.nikonusa.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/13783.
Nikon has also updated the Distortion Control Data used by DSLR cameras, such as the D90 and D5000, to correct barrel and pincushion distortion during shooting and editing. The new data, which covers additional lenses, is available for downloading from http://nikonimglib.com/dcdata/#os-windows for Windows users or http://nikonimglib.com/dcdata/#os-macintosh for the Macintosh platform.
