Fujifilm, Panasonic and Sigma have issued firmware updates for several cameras in their ranges this month.
Fujifilm has issued updates for its X-E2 and X-T1 mirrorless cameras improving autofocusing functionality and adding support for the focus limiter function on the new XF100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR lens. Version 4.00 of the XE-2 firmware brings most of the function in the older camera in line with the X-E2S model, which was released in January. As well as improving the sensitivity of the built-in phase detection pixels for single-point AF it adds new Zone and Wide/Tracking modes to the AF system, both of which use 77 AF points across a wider area improve the camera’s ability to track moving subjects. Eye Detection AF has also been added, along with an Auto Macro function, which automatically switches the camera into the Macro mode while maintaining the conventional AF speed. The movie AF algorithm has also been improved to provide smoother autofocusing. Firmware version 4.30 for Fujifilm’s X-T1 cameras improves manual focusing functionality by enabling the AF-L button to be used for locking focus and exposure and the Focus Assist button to used to enable the lens focusing ring to be used with focus zoom. It also allows optional flashguns can be used for bracketing and burst photography and adds a number of Custom Display options. A bug that froze the camera in AF-C mode has been fixed. Panasonic has released firmware updates for its DMC-G7, DMC-GX8, DMC-FZ300, TZ57 and TZ58 cameras. Download links for each camera can be found on the company’s support page at http://av.jpn.support.panasonic.com/support/global/cs/dsc/download/index.html.

Sigma has released firmware upgrades for its dp0 Quattro, dp1 Quattro, dp2 Quattro, dp3 Quattro cameras and Photo Pro raw file conversion software. Also available on this page are updates for the Sigma Optimisation Pro software that enables you to connect lenses from the Sigma Global Vision product lines to your computer via Sigma USB Dock, and to customise the lens with operations such as firmware update and focus adjustment. Version 1.2 of the software is offered as separate downloads for the Windows and Macintosh operating systems.
