Fujifilm has released Version 3.0 of its firmware for the medium format GFX 50S camera, adding two new capabilities.
The first is the addition of Focus Bracketing, which will enable photographers to record up to 999 frames incremented by a specified focus shift (1-10 steps). This function has been added to the Drive settings and users will be able to set the number of frames, step distance and shot intervals. It will make focus stacking much easier when images are post-processed.
The second addition is a 35mm Format Mode, which allows photographers to crop out the central 36 x 24 mm (30.5-megapixel) part of the frame when a 35mm format is required. This setting affects both JPEG and RAF.RAW files. It will make the camera easier to use with 35mm format adapters and includes automatic detection of a supported adapter when it is attached to the camera. The new firmware can be downloaded from http://www.fujifilm.com/support/digital_cameras/software/.
Fujifilm has also released Firmware Version 1.1 for the Fujifilm H Mount Adapter G, which expands the number of lenses compatible with the camera. A list of compatible lenses and accessories is available at: http://www.fujifilm.com/support/digital_cameras/compatibility/mountadapter/.
