Firmware updates have been issued for the Canon Cinema EOS C100, C300 and C300 Mark II cameras, Panasonic’s GH5, G80, G81 and G85 and the Sony α7R III.
The Canon updates provide support for Dual Pixel CMOS AF on the CN-E70-200mm T4.4 L IS KAS S lens, as well as for automatic aperture and push auto iris functions and manual iris control. They also introduce the ability to start or stop recording using the optional ZSG-C10 lens grip, and engage focus, zoom and iris control via the optional RC-V100 remote controller. Mechanical image stabilisation can be locked when the camera is powered off, regardless of the IS switch position and lens metadata will be passed on to the camera body. Peripheral illumination correction has been added for the EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III USM, CN-E70-200mm T4.4 L IS KAS S, EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS II USM, EF 85mm f/1.4L IS USM and EF-S 35mm f/2.8 Macro IS STM lenses. Firmware version 2.2 for the Panasonic GH5 adds support for assigning functions to the Fn button on various lenses and improves recording stability in Variable Frame-Rate mode. Firmware version 1.3 for the Panasonic G80, G81 and G85 provides improvements to image stabiliser performance with the Leica DG Elmarit 200mm lens, and corrects an unspecified operational bug which could be triggered by external devices.
