Sony has released firmware updates that enable video clips in XAVC S format to be recorded to SDHC memory cards, instead of requiring an SDXC card.

The new firmware expands the in-camera storage options for both cameras and enables users to take advantage of cheaper SDHC cards for storing 4K movie clips. Sony advises shooting movies in XAVC S format requires SD Speed Class10, or UHS Speed Class U1 or faster cards. (When recording in 100 Mbps or more, UHS Speed Class U3 is required.) Clips are restricted to a maximum size of 4GB and longer recordings will be split into multiple files. The divided files can be integrated into a single file using  PlayMemories Home.
