September 8, 2006: Sony has released a firmware update for its recently-released DSLR-A1 camera which improves image gradation in long exposures and enhances picture quality when images are printed under Epson’s Print Image Matching system.

The new update also addresses a rare problem with the supplied image control software, Picture Motion Browser, in which raw files may not open. The upgrade only applies to Version 1.00 and 1.01 of the camera’s firmware and owners should check their cameras before implementing the update.
