Convenors of the Ballarat International Foto Biennale have issued an announcement about changes to the schedule of this year’s event which will still open on 28 August.
The announcement states: The 2021 Biennale will open on 28 August. The extension of the current lockdown means that the festival will only open to regional audiences at this time. We will open to Metropolitan Melbourne when restrictions permit and it’s safe to do so.
We are fortunate to have a long running event – running until 24 October – and we hope to share the incredible lineup of 260 artists across 100 venues, including exhibitions, public art, projections, artist talks, Foto Walks and dining experiences with you all as soon as we can.
Ticket holders who can no longer attend due to the lockdown will be able to reschedule tickets to a later date during the Biennale, with full refunds also available. We are currently experiencing a high volume of enquiries and appreciate your patience as we respond to each and every one.
Currently all Opening Weekend events are on pause at this time, and we will update our ticket holders for these events with further information shortly.
BIFB Artistic Director and CEO Fiona Sweet would like to share the following statement:
“While it has certainly been a challenging year for the arts and it’s disappointing we won’t be able to open to all of Victoria as we’d hoped to, I am glad we can give our regional community an exclusive first look at the 2021 Biennale. We are so grateful for your support and I look forward to connecting with you all very soon.”
